EQUIPMENT CLEANLINESS
Cleaner equipment means less risk associated with personnel during equipment entry. Mitigating the hazards associated with exposure by ensuring equipment is completely hydrocarbon-free during the decontamination window is a vital risk-mitigation strategy. Removing the potential for off-gassing of hazardous gases trapped in sludge and sand layers and ensuring there are zero sources of fuel (hydrocarbons) remaining in the equipment enables the highest degree of safety during vessel entry.
~90% REDUCTION OF EFFLUENT GENERATION
The traditional equipment preparation method of water flushing creates tremendous amounts of effluent that must be handled. These amounts can be multiples of the equipment volume that is being prepared. Vapor phase cleaning utilizing UpTime will generate approximately a tenth of the effluent generated during water flushing and flooding activities.
REDUCTION OF FLARING
The traditional equipment preparation method of nitrogen purging to remove hazardous gases takes time and utilizes costly nitrogen. The vapor phase process eliminates the need for nitrogen purging all together by displacing hazardous gases to the flare with only a slip stream of flow. Combining the steps of surface area cleaning with vapor space cleaning generates less total volume to the flare in a fraction of the time.
